Glitch Mob - We Can Make The World Stop print by Mauro Balcazar

I was listening to Pandora and came across a new track by the Glitch Mob and became really obsessed with it for a few days. Anyone that knows me knows that I'm in love with all things robots. Listening to the lyrics i quickly painted this image image in my head and really wanted to express it on paper, digital paper. Here's the lyric.

"Stand Still, Pause Clocks, We Can Make The world Stop!"

I couldn't stop repeating the lyrics and found myself sketching on a napkin something randomly. What evolved from that doodle is the following Rebellious Robot drawing that I hope you enjoy. and yes, the Binary code above does mean the lyric. :-) #BONUS

Here the image larger to check out :-)

It's Turbo Time!! Turboman art and shirts by Mauro

It's Christmas time around here. thought I'd post this up, can't remember if i did years ago. One of my favorite films of the holidays has always been "Jingle all the way". I drew this as an homage to the film i grew up watching and to the character of Turboman!! It reminds me of my parents going crazy to always try and get me that 1 coveted action figure for xmas. (they had a crazy adventure trying to get me power rangers over a decade ago, makes me love this movie even more :-))

Here is some art i did and a t shirt design. you can still buy it for cheap on my store.
happy holidays.

Shirts and stickers :-)

The New Muppet movie! The Muppets as Ninja Turtles by Mauro!!

hehe

Here's my tribute piece to the Muppets!! I really love everything Henson and if it weren't for Jim Henson's contribution to the Ninja Turtle live action film, I'd never have a favorite film! lol, The Muppets were a staple for me growing up and I wanted to pay tribute to Mr Henson and his Legacy in my own tacky way. :-) I thought, Ninja Turtle Muppets!!! hehe hope you guys dig it. I tried to make it look like the TMNT movie poster :-).

Be Excellent to One Another! Bill & Ted art

I'm starting to like these Friday PLanet-Pulp inspired drawings. There currently having a "time" related art run and I thought about Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.(Delorean came 2nd in my thought process for some weird reason lol). Tried to draw this as close to spec as the actual prop in the film. Hope you guys like it and please be Excellent to each other!! - Mauro

Snow White's Evil Queen by Mauro Balcazar

And here we have our second entry in the bad girls club lol. Here is the Evil Queen, the only other person I know who can give Maleficent a good run for her crazy! I hope guys like this one, had some more fun painting her and changing the colors around. For some reason I can't help but think of Makeup when I think of this character and I hope i made her colorful enough. :-)

Maleficent Painted by Mauro Balcazar

Finally had some free time to sit down and try to paint this drawing i did last month. Played around a lot with photoshop layering trickery (fitting for this character right?).
I hope you guys dig it, I think the colors make her look a little more sinister then I intended, but I didn't want to use red, instead playing with her skin tone a bit.

enjoy! - Mauro

Never Give Up, Never Surrender Damn it!

This is a fun one i drew the other night. It is for a submission to the great blog "planet pulp! (http://www.planet-pulp.com/). Check it out for awesome pop culture art from around the globe! This is for a Stan Winston inspired run and I couldn't think of a more fun one to draw than Galaxy quest!

I tried to capture all the best personalities of the characters that I remembered. They were all so great in this film, and I just laughed drawing these guys at their worst? lol i hope you guys like it!

I hate zombies

Halloween so close you can smell it!!

The only thing that scares me are zombies. nothing fancy, but they terrify me. I have told all my friends that should they turn into a zombie, I would end them in seconds. LOL, here's a quick little drawing of one these little bastards in the digital flesh.
they always have the weird stare. yikes!

Beware...The Gray Ghost!!! Batman Animated

I drew this a while ago, always loved the Batman Animated Series growing up. One episode in particular comes to mind, where Batman meets one of his childhood idols, the Gray Ghost. In a scene, the camera pans to his collection of memorabilia and you can see a poster of "The Gray Ghost" on the wall.

I loved the idea of Batman having his own nerdy collection of the Gray ghost, someone he admired in his childhood, inside the batcave. It's only seen for i think 2 seconds, but it was very well done in the animation and I thought it would be neat to have as a print to give Mr Conroy as a present. Im going to bring some to NYCC and hopefully get Kevin Conroy sign it for me. Hope you all like it.

* done in digital watercolors to give it that animated style painted look. :-)

EDIT*

Happy to report I was able to give one of these prints to Kevin Conroy to keep at a panel at the NYCC. I was so glad he mentioned the character earlier in the panel, and he seemed surprised to see the drawing after the panel of the gray ghost. really really nice guy. I was happy so much fun and I was able to get my personal copy signed.

It's ShowTime!!!...Beetlejuice Poster!!!

Tada.....

lol, Here is my latest "maurolyzed" (see, i made that word totally up) style poster for the Tim Burton Film, Beetlejuice. I borrowed elements very much in the vein of my last Dragon style poster. I recently re-watched this film on blu ray and loved the memories i had as a kid watching this. I wanted to try my hand at a new edgy poster for it, and here she is.

I really wanted to capture my favorite moments and characters from the film and hope i did it justice. For those asking, I spelled the name like that on purposed since that's how it was spelled in the film. Remember, don't say his name!!!

*in the film, it was misspelled on purpose i think, so you couldn't really pronounce his real name correctly. GENIUS!!

Want it on a shirt or a sticker?? check it out here :-) thanks!!

I will have a few of these available as prints at comic con.
